Scholarly/Professional Summary

Professor Christopher Onosemuode is a Professor of Geoinformatics, a researcher and a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology in the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. He obtained B.Sc Geography (1997), M.Sc Cartography and Remote Sensing (2000) and Ph.D Cartography (2005) from the prestigious Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Edo State. His quest for more knowledge made him acquire PGD in Geographical Information System (GIS) in 2010 at the Federal School of Survey, Oyo, Nigeria.

His consistent passion for impacting knowledge made him venture into the academics where he began his lecturing career as Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Geography in Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nigeria. He later became one of the pioneer staff in the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun at the Department of Environmental Science now known as Environmental Management and Toxicology.

He was appointed the Head of Department for a period of 2013-2015 and has chaired several Committees in the University; he is also a member of numerous Committees.He has over 40 publications in reputable national and international journals to his credit, an Editorial Board member to several national and international journals. His research interest includes Spatial Analysis and Mapping using Geoinformatics techniques. He is a member of the Nigeria Cartographic Association (NCA), Nigeria Environmental Society (NES) and America Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).

Professor Christopher Onosemuode is currently an internal member of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. He is the Director,Centre for Safety Education.
